Tell Me Quick
Ain't Love A Kick in the Head?

Wow. Third post of 2007 and it's only barely October.

I Eat Paint isn't one of those fancy push-button blogs like Blogger or TypePad or WordPress or anything like that. No, I wrote the engine myself, and, well, it sort of shows. For example, I wrote the login system myself. So when one day I tried to log in to write a new entry, and I Eat Paint doesn't let me, it's really no one's fault but mine. Thus, a little bit of down-time between then and now.

Anyway, I have a nice little queuing system that lets me start drafts of entries and then come back to them later. This queuing system is now full of old entries that aren't really relevant anymore. I have been picking through those to find interesting things that have happened and that I haven't written about so I can bring you all up to speed on the last, oh, 5 months since I've written.

First-ly and foremost-ly, there is a girl in the scene now. I have not written about her because she's she's not super-keen on having lots of info about her on the intarweb, but I figure it's fine to tell you her name is Wendy and she lives in Wisconsin. Since I happen to not live in Wisconsin, that can make things a touch difficult, but we manage, mostly by driving back and forth a lot until such a point when one of us can move.

As the title/subtitle allude, things are going swimmingly. I've met her family, she's met my family, and at some point in the relative near future, our families will be meeting each other. Infer from that what you wish. Pictures are here.

Because I love to write the number 7, I am very happy that it is 2007; I haven't been able to regularly write it since 1997. I practice the European/Australian method of writing my 7; that is, with a stroke through the 7. I'm not sure when I picked up that particular affectation (which carries over to my Zs). I recall doing it back in 1997, but I may well have adopted it that year. I also remember seeing it as early as 1991 when Apple starting certifying products System 7 Savvy.

I got a guitar. It's an Eko Ranger VI that I got third- (or eighth-) hand from a friend. Somewhere in its 20-odd year lifetime, someone sat on it and subsequently repaired it. At any rate, it still works, sounds okay., and didn't cost me anything.

I also bought a Wii. Iff'n you wanted to friend me, my Wii is 5069 3433 6989 5927. I've also been known to put on wrist weights and work out with it, using Wii Sports. It's pretty awesome.

What have you been up to? Also, for those of you who know me in real life, did I forget anything?

ETA: I apparently have not yet fixed the database's date stuff, and comments aren't working yet.

Are there anymore action shots in the queue?

I use the extra line with my sevens too...its superior. Otherwise, seven could easily be mistaken for a one or a two.

It was great seeing you guys last month!

As for the updating, it's great to have entries when you can, but I think it says a lot about how well the rest of your life is going when you don't find time to update much. Well done!

I do the 7's with lines through them as well. I remember specifically picking up the habit when a teacher (don't know what grade...middle school?) wrote like that on the chalkboard. I really liked it, and started doing it myself.

First, I'm going to try to show off a bit and make a guess that you store your dates in a timestamp column (the alternative is datetime for those of you not familiar with Mysql) and that they are stored in GMT time. Nerdy and boring, I know, but after I saw the near-epoch date and time in your first comment, I couldn't not comment.

Now on to something more normal.

I'm glad things are going well with Wendy. It would be fun to meet her some time. You guys could maybe come to the Twin Cities some time and we could meet Wendy and you could meet Samuel.

I was worried that you actually ate paint! Glad to virtually see you in the virtual world of virtual media, virtually.

I'm jumping on the seven crossing bandwagon.

Hey, should we all post our Wii numbers here and all be Wii friends?

Also, Matt - it's been nearly a year since the last update. What gives?
