The office visitor
I want a cat...

Every so often, when the day is warm yet lightly breezy, we open a window on one side of the room, and prop open a door on the other side. It makes the office very nice, but after a few hours or so, a neighborhood cat wanders into the office, plunks down on its side near one of us, and writhes around while meowing, trying to get us to pet it. Work stops for 10 minutes while Ben and I play with the cat, and then I have to lead the cat outside and get it to stay there while I shut the door (which isn't always as easy as it sounds).

It's times like that I really want a cat...

You should get that Munchkin Cat you wanted! ^__^

Since your roomate's alergic to cats, you should get a ferrit. They're the most fun pets in the whole world. Or a dwarf rabbit. They like to cuddle, but they're not nearly as much fun as ferrits.

Cats vs. FerretsMatt - Oct 31st, 2003 at 10:51 am
Kierkegaard (the ferret, not the Danish philosopher) was certainly lots of fun to play with, but waay too hyperactive for me. I think once I end up living by myself (or at least with people that aren't alergic to cats), I'm going to get me one of those munchkin cats.

Ack! I missed a blog! Anyhow, very cool that you're in a Halloween book. Actually, being in any book would be cool, I suppose. Anyhow -- yay! As for pets ... when I was younger I would go through stages when I would want a cat. (I have a dog back home) Really, I think your situation is nice -- "borrow" a cat for a few minutes, play with it, and then get rid of it. No litter box to clean out, no food to buy, no baby kitties to have to get rid of .... But, yes, cats are lots of fun to play with. And pets in general are cool. :-)

My ferrit's full name is Heidegger, not Kierkeggard, but given they're both in the same vein of philosophy, close enough. We usually refer to her as Stinky, though because my mother-in-law couldn't say Heidegger.(don't ask) Plus, she's a crafty little bugger, so it seems to fit. By the way, I love Katie's halloween costume

Wow, nice work on the Halloween costume for Katie there...you must have spent a lot of time in photoshop to get it just right (I'm especially impressed with the purple mask...it looks like it really is curved around her face)

Thanks, buddy. Yeah, I spent a while playing with it just to get it right. The Burn and Dodge tools are good at adding depth. The Ninja Turtle version of Katie is here.

Oh wow, I thought she was green because she was dead, and the bo staff was a noose! A Ninja Turtle is definitely cooler.
