Monkeys
For Helping!

Ashley clued me into a site a while ago that was run by a guy she'd had some classes with. Or maybe some guy she had a class with simply likes the site. As best I can tell, he's roughly my age and lives in the great state of Connect-I-Cut.

Anway, the page doesn't have any social commentary or essays on what kind of sandwich he made for lunch, just miles upon miles of funny links, insane pictures, bizarre videos, and on rare occasions, long rambly (but quite funny) streams of conciousness. I give you: Monkeys for Helping

Also, because I posted a comment on his page the other day, I ended up on his blogroll, and I figured I'd return the favor and clue you folks into his site.

This is only tangentially related, but the other day I was discussing Link Exchanges with Ron. Not the actual exchange of links between our site (although my side bar of links needs some serious overhaul and as much as I read Ron's site, he really should be on ther), but the fact that it exists, and the sad fact that, sometimes sites link to you that you don't really want to link back. My policy has always been sort of informally been 'Eh, whatever,' which pretty much translates to, rather than responding to such requests with Yes or No, I pretty much just ignored them and hoped they'd go away.

I think I'm going to adopt an official no-automatic-reciprocation policy. I think it's great if someone links to my little corner of the internet, but I'm not going to let it be a factor in my decision to link out. I have this (probably deluded) idea that I Eat Paint is a quality piece of internet, and if I can opt to only send you folks out to equaly quality chunks of the internet, I think I shall.

In the pipeline, I have 3 action shots, two of which are so old, I'm resubmitting surveys just to make sure they're still accurate. Also, in the plans are:

  • Fix the comment page so quotes are allowed
  • Update that links bar on the side
  • Clean up the page and switch over to the cartoon mascot
  • Update the info/bio/whatever pages so they're not woefully out of date.

Finally, if you dig Katamari, check out this minigame.

Cartoon mascot? No more Katie???

 Brian - Mar 12th, 2006
I say boo, on the new mascot idea. Katie is an icon and I associate the site with the picture more then almost anything else. I suggest you leave the pic in place, as it would be very hard to replace it. If it isn't broke, then don't fix it.

I'm excited to see what the new mascot will be! And this is no offense to Katie...but, I do think it's time to move on to a new icon.

Matt, do you have anyway for us to vote on the new mascot? I think maybe if people saw some of the other availible shots, they'd recognize how superior the Katie shot is. Plus, with a vote, whatever was decided you'd at least be pleasing a majority of the fans.

 Mary - Mar 13th, 2006
I eat paint is most definitely a quality piece of Internet. I think the level of vocabulary used alone puts it a cut above most of what is out there.

Since Ashley is the woman in Matt's life--I think it'd be cool if there were a picture of ASHLEY eating paint--to replace the icon picture of Katie.

-OR-

Matt could eat paint and take a picture--so that people wouldn't immediately assume he's a girl--and Matt, you could be your own mascot.

Cartoon mascot = good.

but at the rate Matt updates it may be another month ;) Hehe

..teasin!

The current mascot is a photographic capturing of a moment in time that cannot be reproduced effectively. You can try and replace it, but it will never be the same quality or capture the same feeling of the original.

In short, please leave the current mascot. It is near perfection.
