Biking
And stuff

So, I paid a little bit of money and got my bike fixed up. The front derailleur was broken, the tires were bad, the steerling was a little off, and something was slowing the rear wheel down, so they fix all of those things and swapped my mountain bike tires for road tires. Since then, I've been going out weekly or so to a trail with a coworker of mine, and slowly working up my stamina. The first time we went biking, we made 7 miles round-trip and I was doing pretty bad at the end. The second time we did the same seven miles, and I felt okay, so the third time out, we did 9 miles, and I was pretty well wiped. This last week, though, I was feeling really good, and I'm not sure what made the difference, but we did 15 miles and I was still ok at the end, even though it took us a good 3 hours.

Tomorrow, I'm going to early service at church so we can try to get in a 20-mile ride and be back in town in order to do stuff at night. I'm cautiously optimistic, but I'm not really proud of the fact that 15 miles is the longest I've ever biked in one stretch, so I'm anxious to be able to say that I've done 20+ miles.

Diane writes a blog about guilt-free indulgences, and I submitted a product review the other week. Yes, even severely manly men like myself enjoy indulgences from time to time (in this case, soap with rough stuff in it). Why not check her site out, and maybe show her some love by leaving a comment or two?

I love to go biking and I'd love to have my bike here in the metropolis but I really don't have anywhere to keep it.

The most I've done in one stretch is about 10 miles or so. Good luck on your 20!!

Aw, thanks for the linkage love, Matt. I wish I wasn't so limited in my word count--the e-mail was really much more entertaining than my edited version!
