Fireworks and paint
What a weekend
This past weekend, Ryan and I took a
road trip to Illinois to visit Heidi and her family for a festival that defies
description. The individual subcultures represented were almost unfathomable. You
have the aging bikers, the small children, the local youth group, the greasers, the drunks,
the ravers, the punk rawkers, a bunch of inflatable buildings, insane amounts of meat, and
a feeling of happy community. I spent the night on the floor of the inflatable bounce
room. It's a lot like a waterbed. For like 8 people.
Various events have transpired causing me to decide to purchase www.ieatpaint.com.
The largest factor deals with the fact that, while at Heidi's 4th of July celebration/graduation
party/fireworks display/outdoor festival/family reunion/neighboorhood get-together thing,
Heidi's sister volunteered to eat paint for me. And let me take pictures of it. Actually,
Heidi took the pictures. I just put the paint on her lips and teeth and directed her.
I painted her mouth approximately 11 hours ago, and I'm still in shock.
This brings me to the other thing. I changed the layout of the page. That's right,
it is turning into a full-blown blog. You can't see it yet, because it's not done, but
it looks a heck of a lot like Things I Hate, and the main address will be www.ieatpaint.com
and will feature Katie eating paint. Sugar and Fat will pull up the same information,
although it's possible that it will do that via a different colour scheme. This way,
multiple-paragraph entries (such as this one), won't confuse you into thinking that this is
multiple postings.
The end punchline is this: I don't have an ip yet, and I'm having a number of problems with
my web server. I have a template layout in html, split up into a header, a side bar, and the
main article, and then I'm automatically generating pages using PHP. Unfortunately, PHP doesn't
work yet on my machine. This means that I can't automatically generate the pages the way that
I want to; I have to generate them by hand. Which is retarded. So, I'm going to start breaking
the entries of this page into individual data files, so that once I get PHP and my web server
working and I get an ip, it will be ready to go. Maybe I'll create a sample page using
this entry. Maybe. Then again it's quarter past midnight, and I'm beat.
